Cranes & Lifting Equipment

The design of cranes and lifting equipment is a major aspect to the experience of the engineers at C A Britton & Associates.

We are able to design a crane to your specifications in accordance with AS1418. From overhead bridge cranes to jib cranes, our staff have been involved in designing cranes and lifting equipment to all parts of the crane code.

Continued Use Certificates

After the Design Working Period (DWP) has expired, all cranes should have a major inspection completed. C A Britton & Associates can assist you in determining if your DWP has expired and can supervise the major inspection on the crane for continued use certification.

Lifting Equipment Design

The staff at C A Britton & Associates have designed all types of lifting and handling equipment to AS4991. Whether you need a light beam to assist in manual handling tasks or something larger, we can help.

Detailed Design

Our design services include production of "FOR CONSTRUCTION" drawings that have been independentally checked for accuracy. All drawings have a detailed set of design calculations which can be supplied on request.

If the design involves cranes or lifting equipment, then detailed calculations are provided for your record along with design certificates stating Working Load Limits and relevant Australian Standards. Copies are always kept on record in our office and can be re-issued on request.

Detailed Design Certification

Whether your idea or ours, we can provide you with all the design documentation to see ideas become reality.

All components, whether small or large are fully analysed. All our calculations are completed in MathCAD and presented in an easy‐to‐read pdf format. When required, manual calculations are backed up by FEA or structural modelling software. Drawings can be presented as 3D models or as simple 2D layouts. We are fully conversant with SoidWorks, Inventor, 3D AutoCad and Strand 7.

Design Verification

C A Britton & Associates offer a third party design verification service. If you have a design that needs verification, or equipment designed to overseas standards, we can provide you with an independent check that satisfies all your obligations under the latest WHS legislation.

Our engineers have experience in third party design verification and registration of plant in Queensland, NSW and Western Australia. Equipment from wagon roll-over units, underfloor jacking systems to cranes and manboxes. What ever your plant, what ever your need, C A Britton & Associates can help.

Expert Witness

As a recognised expert in her field, Carol has been involved in several legal matters offering expert witness reports to validate her clients position.

Reports and rebuttals can be produced to provide you with the right information so you know where you stand. Carol can also attend court as a witness if requried.

Materials Handling Equipment

C A Britton & Associates are experienced in the design of all types of materials handling equipment.

Conveyor design

Systems have been designed for conveying powders, grains and lumped raw material such as wheat and coal. These systems consist of:

• Surge hoppers

Fault finding

If you are having an issue with a conveyor or associated equipment, no matter how big or small, C A Britton & Associates can provide you with advice. If you have spillage, wear or power issues, we can provide you with a detailed analysis of your conveyor to fault find and solve your problem.

Rail Infrastructure

Staff have been involved in the design of rail maintenance infrastructure.

Equipment to assist on the maintenance of rolling stock along with equipment for handling long awkward loads. Maintenance equipment we can design for you consists of vehicle hoists, drop tables, bogie transport vehicles and overhead working platforms.

Site Audits

Site audits of structures, equipment and dangerous goods can be completed by C A Britton & Associates to give you an up-to-date assessment of where you stand regarding the latest WHS legislation.

Structural Audits

C A Britton & Associates have over 10 years hands on experience of completing structural assessment audits. We work closely with the engineering manager on an aging plant within the Illawarra. Some of the structures are over 50 years old and in need of major repair work. We are able to conduct the audit, provide sketches of any repairs required and supervise work crews completing repair work. Structures are repaired to a condition which is as near to original as possible.

Dangerous Goods Audits

C A Britton & Associates are able to conduct site audits of your dangerous goods storage areas to ensure they are compliant with the latest WHS legislation and applicable Australian Standards.

Working at Heights

C A Britton & Associates staff have designed horizontal safety lines, rails and single or dual anchor points for roof edges and working at heights around equipment for maintenance.
